The internship schedule is flexible based on your schedule. We find our interns benefit the most from working full-time during the summer months and part-time during the school year. 

Projects vary by internship assignment. All interns are offered hands-on experience that allows them to apply their classroom knowledge on actual business projects.

Internships are located in our corporate office in South Sioux City, Nebraska.

Some interns may qualify for a housing allowance of up to $1,500 less applicable taxes. We can also provide recommendations for temporary housing once an intern is selected.

While an internship is not a guarantee of full-time employment, 33% of our interns over the past 20 years have returned to Great West in full-time positions after graduation.

Ideally, our interns have completed, or are in, their junior years. However, we accept applications from students at all stages of their college careers.

All interns must be actively enrolled in a degree-seeking program during the semester of their internships.

We evaluate each application and take into account past experiences, activities, and education. While we prefer a 3.0 GPA, we will consider those with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Yes, interns must be able to verify their eligibility to work in the United States. We do not offer sponsorship for employment.

We do not require that an intern pursue academic credit to be eligible for an internship. However, if an intern’s academic institution offers the opportunity to earn credit, Great West as the employer will review the requirements of the academic program and work with the intern to complete the necessary process.

All of our internships are paid positions; compensation varies by assignment.

Our interns are held to the same standard as all Great West employees. Our dress code is business casual except for designated dress-down days. Visible, offensive tattoos that violate our Respectful Workplace Policy are not acceptable.
